TK’s Boba & Creamery
One of my favorite treats is "boba." Or "milk tea," or "bubble milk tea," or whatever other name you've heard. It is sweet, yet gives your mouth something to chew. It is so satisfying and is perfect for anytime of the year. Good boba is really hard to find, and good service is even harder to find. Amidst the current state of the world and our country, we have grown more anti-social and have been encouraged to be so. Now regardless of opinions on either side, we cannot deny that our growth towards anti-socialism has been realized. Even prior to our mask years, social media ruled and reigned the interpersonal interaction spaces. So now adays, a worker who looks you in the eye and smiles is becoming a relic of the prior era. But it does not have to.
My love (pictured here) and I walked to TK's Boba & Creamery one night during our stay in Vegas for an evening snack. It is your typical boba shop: video games and pokémon in every corner. When we went up to order the worker paused, looked up at both of us, and smiled so big I could see the creases of her mouth on the sides of her mask. Wow. Take a second to picture that. A young woman, working at a boba shop, on a week night, at seven in the evening with plenty of other customers, took the time to pause and smile at us. Wow. A drop in the bucket of LOVE because she saw us.
But the interaction does not end there. She took our orders and asked us if we wanted to start a punch card. Typical question. We kindly declined and stated that we were not from Las Vegas. Then she paused, and look at us, again. She asked, "Oh, where are you from?" She didn't have to ask where we were from. She could have just said, "Oh, cool." But no, she placed another drop in the bucket of LOVE that can make an interaction one to remember. We continued to chat. We come from a colder place than Las Vegas, NV, which caused me to mention that I had been wearing shorts all week, like a tourist. She, yet again, responded by encouraging my choice. Wow. She didn't make fun of me, as my statement invited, but rather agreed with my choice and encouraged it since this weather was warm to me. Wow. Her encouragement warmed my heart.
LOVE does not have to be big to make a travel experience great. It can be a person. One person can take one extra minute in their day to know just one more thing about the person they're interacting with. This may be a time where the majority of your experiences are anti-social. But that does not mean the majority will win out in our hearts.
Are you the TK's Boba worker?
